Legion baseball team ends successful season
The Montgomery Post 79 baseball season came to end last week, losing 15-2 to LeSueur and 1-0 to Jordan in the double elimination tournament.
After opening the tournament with a win over Belle Plaine, the local team traveled to LeSueur and came out on the short end of the 15-2 game. The Post team was never in the game, as LeSueur scored nine runs in the first inning after Montgomery scored two in the top of the first. Ryan Worm started the game followed by Matt Vosejpka and Jackson Rynda. Recording hits for Montgomery were Eric Iverson, Dan Holicky, John Krocak and Matt Vosejpka.
Montgomery, in a must-win game at Jordan, came up just short to end their season. In what was an excellent game played by both teams, Jordan scored in the third for the winning margin. Iverson pitched the complete game, giving up only to hits. Oakes pitched for Jordan, and also game up only two hits. Both hits for Montgomery were by David Simon.
As the season came to an end, the coaches told the boys they were very happy with their effort and attitude all season. Those qualities can only help the team looking to next year, as they were competitive all season long.
The team would like to thank everyone who supported them during the season.
